Fun Find Friday-Paper Bag Skirts

Have you seen the Month of free patterns on Grosgrain yet? If you haven't you need to go and check it out. There are so many great ideas already from kids items, to adult clothing, to other crafts and nic-nacks. One item I loved in particular is the Paper Bag Skirt by Adventures in Dressmaking. I have seen these around, they are really trendy right now and I was planning on making one for my daughter but then I saw this and thought, why not make one for myself? I usually don't like making clothing for myself because it is so hard to tell if something is going to look good on your body without trying it on first. But what the heck right?

Well here is how it turned out... I LOVE IT. It is made of a berry colored linen and so comfy. I love the high waist too. I do have to warn you, the pattern is not as easy to follow as it looks. The skirt is really simple but she left out a few details that make the instructions easier to follow. SO, check out the comments section because she actually clears up the holes there. I didn't check out the comments and just winged it myself and thankfully I have learned enough about sewing to work it out. And I bought enough fabric to make my daughter one as well, or maybe a cute pair of shorts.
