I love quick crafts. It seems that is all I have time for these days. I don't know if it is just summer and the kids are all home all day long or my mind goes a wandering but I don't seem to be getting anything done lately unless you count working on my tan from laying out by the pool and swimming every day.
However I did make this quick craft for my MIL who will be serving as a mission president's wife in New Hampshire soon. I know she will have lots of notes to leave around her house and be spending time in the office so this is perfect for her.
All you need is:
-clear plastic frame (Walmart, Hobby Lobby, etc)
-scrapbook paper
-embellishments (ribbon, stickers, tags, etc)
Cut your scrapbook paper to the size of your frame. Wrap a ribbon around the edge of the frame. Add your other embellishments. I used a large tag with an initial for her name.
Hot glue works best. Add your post it notes to the front when you are done. I would suggest using some clear roll on glue to attach the post it notes because they don't stay for long.
It is so simple but such a great idea for a quick gift. And doesn't it look pleasant compared to boring post it notes all over your desk?

Frame List Organizer
I am a very organized person, but I am always looking for new ways to keep my life in order. This is a simple list that is easily changed and can be created to go with any decor in your room. All you need is a basic frame with glass, paper to fit in the frame, and a dry erase marker.
My frame was from Walmart at just $8. I used scrapbook paper from my supply and the pen was from my supply as well. Since I keep this list board in my craft room I added some similar decor by mod podging a strip of paper to the frame and adding some scrapbook paper flowers. I used stickers to permanently categorize my TO DO LIST, IDEAS, and the weekly POSTS for my blog.

These type of frame organizers would be perfect in any room or theme.
Here are a few examples I thought of.

A Little Car Bling
I totally forgot to post this project. For Christmas my sister in law wanted a license plate holder with sparkles for her car because she worried that her car looked too much like a boys car. So I looked around and saw that most of the bling license plate covers cost between $40-$50. WHAT? So I decided to make one for myself. I bought a plain license plate cover at Walmart for $8.00. Then I bought these gems at Michael's in the jewelry section. I also bought these great glue strips...FANTASTIC! I will use this glue on everything! **Caution, the glue is really sticky and hard to move once it has been stuck. Here is how I did it...

It was actually really easy because the strip of glue is already in a line and the gems are already in a line. All I had to do is transfer the glue onto the plate, the gems onto the glue, and viola you are done.

It looked just as good as the ones sold in the store and at a fraction of the price. Needless to say...she loved it!

Cinnamon Vase-Fun Find Friday
Another great Pinterest find...why did it take me so long to sign up? Anyways, I saw this on a friend's board and thought what a great fall craft.
But I couldn't do it exactly like Martha (my crafting idol, not the person the crafter). I decided to use cinnamon sticks instead of twigs. I used a Hobby Lobby coupon thrice to buy the cinnamon sticks (total $6) and an old glass vase I already had. Glue the sticks to the vase, add a ribbon, and fake flowers in fall colors.
Viola, a great fall vase that smells AMAZING! This would also be fun without the flowers and a candle inside instead. A cinnamon vanilla Gold Canyon would be wonderful. Too bad mine is gone, time to order a new one.

Fall Decor
This week I got out my fall decor bind ready to decorate my new house. I love this time of the year. But when I opened the bind all I found were a few pumpkins. BUMMER. So that gave me an excuse to make some fall themed crafts. Thanks to Pinterest and some great deals at Hobby Lobby I took my boring home and made it into some autumn love.

FELT ROSES:
Cut your felt into a large circle. The larger the circle the larger the flower.
Cut the felt in a circular/spiral pattern weaving as you go.
Leave a circle at the end. Here is what it looks like.
Take the end and begin rolling it, pinching with your fingers as you go. The looser the roll the more full your rose will be.

Hot glue the flower to the circle at the end.

Then I hot glued the roses to the bottom of my lamp shade and added the ribbon around the top. I didn't glue the ribbon so that I can change it based on the season.
