Mod Podge Covered Composition Notebook

I attended so many great workshops and heard so many awesome speakers at SNAP last week.  I knew I would be taking a lot of notes so I made a pretty notepad with our logo.  I remember last year at Creative Estates wondering who people were.  I wanted to make sure if you happened to bump into me or were sitting across from me at a table during a session, our logo would be one of the first things people noticed.
Supplies:
-composition notebook
-Mod Podge and brush
-scrapbook paper
-washi tape (not pictured)
Start by coating the cover of your notebook in Mod Podge.  Do your best to get a nice even layer so you don't have bubbles when you add the paper.
Trim your paper to roughly the same dimensions of your notebook.  I say roughly because getting it perfect really isn't worth the stress.  Trimming the paper later is easy.  You can see in my picture I have a little gap between the edge of my paper and the black tape down the middle of the notebook.  Not to worry, the washi tape will cover any mistakes.
Apply a smooth layer of Mod Podge over your paper.
If you want to add an image to the book, do this next step.  It would be fun to add a picture to make a great gift.  This project might show back up for teacher appreciation week or Grandparent's Day!  Use Mod Podge to completely cover your image on the notebook.  Most of the air bubbles will go away when the Mod Podge dries but try to avoid too many bumps.
I used washi tape to cover the little slice of notebook peeking out from under the paper.  If you trimmed your paper perfectly, you can probably skip this step.  I think the tape made the notebook prettier.  I love the contrast of the two patterns together.
For the matching portfolio, I simply printed our logo onto a full shipping label sheet and then trimmed it to fit.  Super easy!

I made a notebook and portfolio set for myself and my SNAP roommate, Rebecca from Freckles Crafts.
My notebook had an extra conference tool hiding inside; I used Mod Podge to have the conference schedule on the inside cover.  This was incredibly helpful and a great tool for everyone sitting around me wondering where we were supposed to be going next.  I will definitely do this for any conference I attend in the future!

Sparkly Shoes - an Easy Fix to Scuffed Toes

My daughter has been on her scooter a few too many times in her cute red ballet flats.  I love these shoes so much and was so sad to see the toes scuffed.  Today I managed to fix her shoes with some painters tape, Mod Podge, and Martha Stewart glitter.  My daughter loves the makeover too!

The toes were almost completely ripped out of these shoes when we started.
I used blue painters tape to tape off the toes of each shoe.
Then I applied a thick coat of Mod Podge.
I sprinkled on enough glitter to completely cover the Mod Podge.
The glitter dried for a couple of hours and then I applied one more coat of Mod Podge.
A few hours later I peeled off the tape to reveal our new sparkly shoes.
No more holes in the toes!
My daughter was excited to go and try out her new shoes.

Picture Coasters-A Christmas Gift

Welcome to FUN FIND FRIDAY!
This weeks project was inspired by another great Pinterest find.
Tile Coasters.

They are just tiles and scrapbook paper.

I love this time of the year however sometimes I get a little stressed over what gifts to get everyone. Especially the grandparents and in-laws. Then it hit me, make some picture coasters for them. I printed off pictures of our family and a family trip we took over the summer and put them on the tiles to give to my in-laws. I like the idea of having pictures out where you can see them, rather than tucked away in some photo book.

Want to make some for yourself or a loved one?
Here is what you need:
-tiles from Home Depot 16 cents each (Lowes has some but there is not a variety and they are most expensive)
-pictures printed or cut to 4x4 squares
-mod podge
-spray glue
-felt
Start by making sure your tiles are really clean. Then spray each tile with spray glue. Place the picture on the tile and smooth out any bubbles. Paint over the picture with mod podge (remember it dries clear). Once the tile is dry flip the tile over and spray the back with spray glue. Then place the felt down (this will prevent scratching).
I love the look and how affordable and easy this gift is to make, even my 3 year old son helped me. I know that my family will love them. Personal and creative...the perfect gift.I also tried doing it with black tiles (37 cents each). The only issue is the spray glue on the black. You will need to scrap it off of the boarder.
