What I Wore Wednesday - Disney Vacation Style

Before I get started with road trip advice (my next post later today), I wanted to participate in WIWW at The Pleated Poppy.  This is the perfect opportunity to share a few pictures of what our family was wearing on our California vacation last week.

It was pretty warm last week in Anaheim so I will spare you all the pictures of me with my hair pulled back in shorts and tank tops but I will share the pictures of the few times I took more than five minutes to get myself ready to go out.

We were in San Diego Saturday and Sunday.  Both days were spent at Sea World.  Sunday evening we went to dinner at the Old Town Mexican Cafe.  We were out late and the weather was great!  Cool enough for a light cardigan.
Top: Local Boutique
Cardigan: Refashion by me (I cut an Old Navy Shirt down the middle front and hemmed the edges - easy!)
Pants: Charlotte Russe skinnies
Shoes: Target (I keep talking about how old and horrible these are but can't stop wearing them)
Earring: Christmas gift from my MIL years ago

We spent Monday to Friday in Disneyland.  I was especially happy because my daughter agreed to wear the 4th of July outfit I made for her!
Shirt and headband: made by me, see project details here
Shorts: Target
Shoes: Old Navy and embellished by me, see project details here

Tuesday my daughter was excited to show Minnie her new dress.
Dress: made by me, see project details here
Shoes: same as worn above

How cute was my husband toting around our daughter on his shoulders all week?
My husband's shirt: made by me, see project details here

We didn't stay too long at Disneyland Wednesday morning because walking around in the heat really wore us out!  My daughter definitely looked like she could use a nap!
By dinner time we were all feeling energized and went to The Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney.  Quick story about my daughter's favorite stuffed bunny...it dances and sings a really annoying song.  She received it from her grandma on Easter.  The bunny had been missing for a couple of months and my daughter asked for help finding him every single day.  The day before we went on our trip she found the bunny.  She was so excited and brought him along on vacation.  Yes, she brought the SINGING bunny on our six hour car drive to California!  She also tried to bring him everywhere we went while on vacation.  We talked her out of dragging him into Disneyland with us by mentioning that he might get lost again.  There was no talking her out of bringing the bunny to dinner Wednesday night.  She gave him a ride on her shoulders back to the car after dinner.
Dress: made by me, see project details here
Shoes: Target (purchased on sale in store, I just noticed you can pick up a good priced pair online here)

The only other picture I am sharing of myself is from dinner Wednesday evening.  Take note of my shoes.  I actually forgot to pack socks and shoes for this trip.  I didn't want to walk around in only flip flops and sandals all week so I picked up a pair of new shoes on clearance at Target.  They might not be too cute but I didn't have to purchase socks and they were super comfy!

Top: Gap
Shorts: Forever 21
Shoes: Target (available online here)
Necklace: Old Navy

Thursday my daughter asked to wear her "Minnie bow" to see Minnie Mouse.  She said Minnie would love it.  The bow is red with white dots and was perfect for a day at Disneyland!
Shirt: Disney Store
Tutu: gift from her great grandma

We drove home Friday morning and we were all in very comfortable road trip clothes!

WIWW this week

I have decided to try something new this week. I picked my 3 favorite outfits (honestly we were really busy this week and I mainly wore gym clothes) and I am going to give you a close up of what I love about the outfit.

Thursday playdate
Shoes: cutesygirl.com
Shorts: Seven's from Buffalo Exchange
Shirt: Forever 21
Watch: Burlington Coat Factory

Saturday at the zoo
Shirt: Kohl's
Shoes: Kohl's
Pants: Gap skinny khakis
Necklace: Old Navy

Sunday, no picture because one of the kids spilled juice on my shirt as soon as we got to church. I ended up wearing my husbands suit jacket, nice fashion statement.

Monday playdate at the splash park
Shirt: Charlotte Russe
Undershirt: Downeast Outfitters
Shorts: Kohl's
Shoes: Payless
Earrings: Swap Meet in Hawaii

On another note here is what my son has been wearing for the last 3 days (I washed it once):
Hat: Cars from Payless
Shirt: Cars from Target
Swim shorts: Cars from Target
Socks: Cars from Payless
Sandals: Cars from Payless (try teaching a 3 year old that wearing socks with sandals is not a good style)

I think someone is excited for Cars 2 this weekend.

THEM of this week...Target shoes. Sometimes great sometime not but right now there are a ton of AMAZING shoes at Target. I am the kind of person who gets bored with my clothing easily so I don't buy expensive stuff. Target is perfect for this type of shopping. Here are some of the shoes I have been loving from Target. Most are under $20 and there are so many styles to choose from. Bottom line, get to the nearest Target.

Heather's WIWW

I learned a couple of things in looking at these pictures -
1) Venturing into photography would be ideal but if I'm not getting a digital SLR camera anytime soon, I need to download the manual for our new digital camera and learn how to take better quality photos!
2) I need a new pose for pictures of myself because I think I look ridiculous in every single one of these.

Instead of telling you which days I wore these outfits, I'll tell you where I was going each day.

Running errands and grocery shopping -

maybe my worst pose in this post!
Top - local boutique
Leggings - Kohl's (They came in a two pack with a zebra print that I've never be brave enough to wear.  Maybe they'll make their debut on Halloween this year.)
Shoes - Target (the ones I have talked about in every WIWW post)
Necklace - Xmas gift from my mom almost 10 years ago (AVON)

Park play date -
super blurry!
Top - Target tee layered over Abercrombie tank
Jeans - Kohl's
Shoes - really old flip flops!
Necklace - terrible picture so you can't really see the awesome necklace I made at Creative Estates with Bev from Flamingo Toes (check out her tutorial and see quality pictures here)

Cupcake play date -
Top - Forever 21 lace shrug over Ann Taylor Loft tank
Jeans - Kohl's ($7 clearance!)
Shoes - Target (same as above)
Headband - Vintage Rose Wraps

Museum with my daughter and her BFF-

Top - college tee over white tee
Jeans - Charlotte Russe
Shoes - Nike flip flops (gift from mom)
Earrings - my favorite dangle earrings! (gift from MIL 5+ years ago)

Dinner with friends -

The self portrait taken at home looked awful so you get me cropped out of a group shot instead.  I can't believe I had a kid free dinner and still left the table with something all over the bottom of my dress!  Gross.
Top - Macy's (too short for me to wear as a dress so I pair it with cropped jeans)
Jeans - Kohl's
Earrings - Old Navy

WIWW-on Vacation

I am taking Heather's challenge of what I wore Wed this week and actually posting pictures of what I wore. Unlike Heather I LOVE SHOPPING so I figured it would be fun to show my finds. It is true what Heather has said in the past...taking a picture every day really makes you evaluate your wardrobe. After reflecting on my pictures I noticed that I wear almost the same thing every day. YUCK. I have a lot of work to do in adding variety. We will have to see if I improve over the next two weeks when I post again. Anyways, here it is:

Wed on the boat in Hawaii:
tank-Target
swim shorts-Target
sun glasses- Macy's
hiking in Hawaii
sweatshirt-Forever 21
tank-Forever 21
shorts-Pac Sun
Sun glasses-local Hawaii shop

Back in AZ
tshirt-Charlotte Russe
capris-True Religions from Nordstrom Rack
shoes-Target (clearance yay)

Tank-Charlotte Russe
Shrug- Forever 21
Jeans-Hudsons from Costco
Shoes-H&M

 fitted T-Downeast Outfitters
dress- Forever 21
Pearl Earings- Tiffany's & Co (a gift during the Schwab conference)

 shirt-Forever 21
capris-Nordstrom Rack
shoes-Target
 shirt-Forever 21
shorts-Old Navy
shoes-Target
I also need to accessorize some more. I am kind of simple in that way (or maybe just lazy). I guess I need to look for some new ideas in the necklace dept.

Heather's WIWW - vacation style

Last week I was posting literally minutes before running out the door to start a family vacation.  I might not have been in Hawaii like Jessica this week, but my daughter, husband, and I spent some time together road tripping to California.  We had so much fun!  I figured this would be a great excuse to show you everything I wore while we were away.  Keep in mind that our activities included strawberry picking, Sea World, and Disneyland.  It was really hot and I ditched all the cute accessories I packed seeking comfort instead.

One of my favorite parts of our trip was getting to spend time with Bev from Flamingo Toes!  While at Creative Estates, we learned we both share a love for a restaurant in her town.  Obviously I don't get there too often but when I do, I will surely be calling Bev to meet me for dinner!  We only took one picture together and unfortunately my daughter was grumpy and needed to get some sleep!

Now I'll show you what I wore this week.
Bev, myself, and my daughter after dinner Saturday evening
I'm disappointed I didn't get a full length picture of this outfit because I thought it was really cute!

Top - Macy's (it's actually a juniors dress but it was way too short for me to wear as a dress so I paired it with jeans)
Necklace - Reversible Ruffle Necklace made by me (see tutorial here)
This outfit was worn to Sea World and then strawberry picking.
Top - Ross (purchased a long time ago!)
Shorts - Calvin Klein (purchased from Costco a couple of summers ago)
Shoes - Target (seen in my previous WIWW post - still in need of a makeover!)
Necklace - The Vintage Pearl (received in welcome box at Creative Estates)
I changed and put my hair up for dinner on the pier.
Top - Gap
Vest - Kohl's
Jeans - Kohl's
Shoes - Target (same worn in previous picture)
Necklace - Old Navy
Terrible lighting!  Picture taken in our room at the Disneyland hotel just before we left for some Disney fun.

Top - turquoise Abercrombie tank under black Ann Taylor Loft tank
Shorts - Ann Taylor Loft
Shoes - Target (same worn in previous picture)
Necklace - The Vintage Pearl (same worn in previous picture)

Picture taken in California Adventure.
Top - black racer back tank gifted from my mom to wear to the gym (have you heard me talk about the gym?  Nope.  This top has to be over five years old!) layered under pink Abercrombie tank
Shorts - Ann Taylor Loft
Shoes - Target (same worn in previous picture)
Necklace - The Vintage Pearl (same worn in previous picture)
Nice view of the Disneyland castle!
Top - racer back tank (same worn in previous picture) layered under Target swim cover up (I ran out of clothes because I didn't realize it would be so warm!)
Jeans - local boutique
Shoes - Target (same worn in previous picture)
Necklace - The Vintage Pearl (same worn in previous picture)

Don't mind the bad manicure in desperate need of a touch up!
I certainly don't mind loud nails but having the same print on my top and nails felt a little too matchy matchy and weird.
Another clothes change and different hair for more Disneyland!
Top - Kohl's
Shorts - Ann Taylor Loft
Shoes - Pumas purchased while traveling in Canada several years ago
Necklace - The Vintage Pearl (same worn in previous picture)
Headband - something I had on hand waiting to be embellished (plain added a nice splash of white on my dark hair)
I needed to show you my hair because I thought it was super cute and EASY to do!
Just before changing and going back to Disneyland I was looking at my Google Reader while my daughter and husband took a quick nap.  I read Cheri's post about hair ideas at her great blog, I Am Momma Hear Me Roar.  It inspired me to pull my hair up into three little buns and I was very happy with the outcome!  I didn't have the Spin Pins mentioned in the post so I used a lot of bobby pins (about 15) instead.
Visiting Minnie's house on our last day in Disneyland.
Dress - local boutique
Vest - Express
Shoes - Target (same worn in previous picture)
Necklace - The Vintage Pearl (same worn in previous picture)
Headband - Vintage Rose Wraps

Just an FYI, I actually purchased a few new pairs of summer sandals specifically to wear on this trip.  Turns out those old Target sandals are more comfortable than everything I had with me in my suitcase!  And I have to tell you again that I love my Vintage Pearl necklace worn almost everyday this week.  I packed a lot of chunky necklaces but with the heat, I just opted for something simple and pretty.

Heather's What I Wore Wednedsay

This post doubles up for my Wowzer Wednesday because I'm not really sure if this was a good idea!

I have been following The Pleated Poppy for awhile. Lindsey is extremely creative and it's always fun to read her posts! Every Wednesday she posts "What I Wore Wednesday" and then allows others to link up. She takes a picture of herself every morning and then tells you the source of all her clothing items and accessories. I have never participated but I have had fun getting to know Lindsey and looking at some of the regulars that link up their posts. I have been contemplating doing this because I really want to dig into my closet and stop wearing the same boring clothes. For the most part I wear jeans and tees everyday. I have made a lot of excuses for not starting to photograph myself every morning. Lets be real here - my most valid points as to why I should not be doing this:
1) I spilt water on my camera and my iPhone was the only way I could take pictures (UNTIL THIS AFTERNOON WHEN OUR DOORBELL RANG AND THE UPS MAN HANDED ME A BOX WITH A NEW CAMERA!!).
2) I am not comfortable with the clothes hanging in my closet and it's possible I would spend $$ trying to find cute outfits simply for THIS post.
3) After reviewing my pictures from the last week I decided this was definitely not happening. I look uncomfortable and ridiculous.
And now here's why I should participate:
1)
Yes I know, it's blank. I really want to have fun getting dressed in the morning and since I'm a stay at home mom, this is a great way to make sure I still attempt to look cute on days I don't leave the house.

Alright already....here's my week:
Please remember this is my first week and I plan on watching America's Next Top Model reruns to get some posing tips before I take any pictures next week!

Top - Gap
Jeans - Charlotte Russe (purchased 5+ years ago)
Shoes - Target (clearance 2 summers ago, in need of a makeover like this)

LOVE this necklace!!

Friday am - Toys R' Us with my daughter and step MIL.

Necklace - Old Navy

Friday pm - date night at The Melting Pot with my husband.

Shoes - DSW

Saturday - Boutique Shopping and family BBQ.

Vest - Express
Khakis - Ann Taylor Loft (purchased when I actually went in to an office everyday)
Shoes - Target (same worn in Thursday picture)
Headband - Vintage Rose Wraps
Necklace - The Vintage Pearl (same worn in Thursday picture)

Sunday - my daughter's friend's birthday party at Peter Piper Pizza
Top - 2 Calvin Klein layered tanks
Jeans - Kohl's (same worn in Friday pm picture)
Shoes - Target (same worn in Thursday and Saturday pictures)

I purchased this necklace the day before at a local boutique. The locket opens so it is really versatile. I'm really excited about all the fun ways I can change up this necklace!

Monday - Appointments and errands.
Top - Ross (purchased ages ago)
Jeans - Kohl's
Shoes - Target
Necklace - my very crafty MIL

Tuesday - babysitting my daughter's BFF all day.
Top - Old Navy over Calvin Klein layer tank
Jeans - local boutique

Wednesday - babysitting my daughter's BFF all day.
Embarrassing but I need you to know I didn't cheat with any of my pictures...everyone has an off day right?
Top - Wal-Mart (worn to my daughter's Cookie Monster themed birthday party last year)
Shorts - Costco (these will only ever be worn on days I am not leaving the house!)

Posting all these pictures of myself was scary. But now that I've spent the time to take all the pictures and get them up here I have to publish this post! Next week you will be seeing better pictures because our new camera was delivered today. I also plan on taking my pictures somewhere other than in my bathroom with the closet mirror leaning on the sink! With that thought, my dad called me today because my mom sent him to a sale at a hotel that was closing in their small town. He bought me three really big and heavy full length mirrors to frame for our bedroom. I am so excited about the project!! WIWW is a perfect reason to get those mirrors up ASAP!

I think Jessica needs to participate next week because she always looks so cute (and she moved away so I don't get to see her everyday anymore)! what do you think?
