Pinterest Finds-October Fall Theme

I love how October 1st comes and there are pumpkins everywhere. Even though the temperatures are still in the 80s here, fall is coming. And all with fall comes lots of new Holiday themed projects. Here are some of my favorites that I have seen so far on Pinterest.

Pumpkin Pie French Toast. Anything pumpkin flavored and I am in. Plus I am sure it makes your house smell amazing.

Paper Plate Ghosts: I love how the bottom of the ghost gives the appearance of flying through the house.

Spider Wed Walking Game. Great for home decor and learning balance.

Swirling Ghosts. This is a great project for 4 and 5 year olds learning to cut.

Fluffy Pumpkin Dip. This is adorable inside a pie pumpkin. I think it would be great with graham crackers, cookies, or even apples.

What kind of fall items are on your to do list?

Swing Jacket

Another Heidi and Finn pattern that I love is their Swing Jacket. I wanted to make something a little warmer for my daughter but not bulky. The swing coat is a perfect solution. I found this great purple plaid wool at Joann's, I just love the color. (Joann's actually has a great selection of plaid suiting I think I might make another one.) Anyways, I lined the coat with grey polka dot cotton. The wool makes it warm but the cotton keeps it light.

I just love how it turned out. I love the collar, I love the big bow, I love the color. It is the perfect fall jacket.

The only problem is it is a little big. I thought it would be like the other Heidi and Finn patterns, running a little small. This jacket does not run small, it is true to size. But I rolled up the sleeves which works for now and next year she will be able to wear it again.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!Link

Cinnamon Vase-Fun Find Friday

Another great Pinterest find...why did it take me so long to sign up? Anyways, I saw this on a friend's board and thought what a great fall craft.

But I couldn't do it exactly like Martha (my crafting idol, not the person the crafter). I decided to use cinnamon sticks instead of twigs. I used a Hobby Lobby coupon thrice to buy the cinnamon sticks (total $6) and an old glass vase I already had. Glue the sticks to the vase, add a ribbon, and fake flowers in fall colors.

Viola, a great fall vase that smells AMAZING! This would also be fun without the flowers and a candle inside instead. A cinnamon vanilla Gold Canyon would be wonderful. Too bad mine is gone, time to order a new one.

Fall Decor

This week I got out my fall decor bind ready to decorate my new house. I love this time of the year. But when I opened the bind all I found were a few pumpkins. BUMMER. So that gave me an excuse to make some fall themed crafts. Thanks to Pinterest and some great deals at Hobby Lobby I took my boring home and made it into some autumn love.Lamp Shade: Walmart

FELT ROSES:

Cut your felt into a large circle. The larger the circle the larger the flower.
Cut the felt in a circular/spiral pattern weaving as you go.
Leave a circle at the end. Here is what it looks like.
Take the end and begin rolling it, pinching with your fingers as you go. The looser the roll the more full your rose will be.

Hot glue the flower to the circle at the end.

Then I hot glued the roses to the bottom of my lamp shade and added the ribbon around the top. I didn't glue the ribbon so that I can change it based on the season.
