Kids love holidays when they get involved. Thanksgiving can be a little tricky to get kids involved other than the basic turkey shaped craft. This year we went in a new direction. We used basic brown paper grocery bags to make Indian costumes.
Using the body portion of the bag cut underarm holes. Then using the bottom portion of the bag cut to go over the shoulders as straps. Staple the strap to the front and back of the bag vest you created. Then cut the bottom of the vest into fringe. Let the kids draw Indian symbols all over the vest. Then using the remaining strips from the bottom of the bag make a headband and add some paper feathers to the back.
Now we can all celebrate Thanksgiving in style.

A Crafty Lunch-Thanksgiving Banner
Sorry no pinterest finds today :(. I haven't been pinning much lately. Too busy with other things. But I did get together with one of my friends this week for a crafty lunch. We like to do this every week actually. We have a small group of friends that switch off hosting a lunch and we do a craft during that time. As a stay at home mom, sometimes I crave adult interaction and this is a great way to socialize with a creative outlit. The kids play while the moms create. What more can you ask for right?
This week we made Thanksgiving signs. Using a Cricut we cut out the scalloped square, inner squares, and letters from scrapbook paper.
Glue them all together. Then using twine and some baby clothes pins (I love these, so cute for hanging up pictures and scrapbook paper) we clipped the letters to the twine.
This is a simple Thanksgiving banner to add some festive appeal to our homes.
PS. I distressed the edges of the patterned paper using a rust/brown ink pad. All you have to do is use the ink pad to brush the edges of the paper. Use quick strokes on the edge for a burned look.

Turkey Ribbon Shirt
Do you have any ribbon scraps lying around? You know the end of the spool that just isn't long enough for anything else? Well here is a festive solution to this problem.
* I like to zig zag around the entire body just to hold it in place.
I made one for my daughter last year and another one this year because this shirt will never go out of style.
Turkey ribbon shirts. You can use any ribbon you have to make these shirts. All you need is a t-shirt, some brown fabric (felt, corduroy, minky, etc), wonder under, buttons, and ribbon scraps.

Turkey Button Cards
I always like to keep in touch with my family through letters. It may be old fashioned but there is something delightful about getting mail (that is not bills). I especially like sending cards to my grandparents. Always with little stories and a few pictures of what we are up to these days. So with Thanksgiving right around the corner I decided to make some cute turkey cards using my little mismatched button stash.
They are super easy and would make a cute holiday decoration. Here is how I made them:
-construction paper
-buttons
-wiggly eyes
-blank cards
