Cupcake Liner Wreath

As you already know, Jessica (from this blog) will be relocating soon. I'm so happy we started this blog together because it will keep us feeling connected after she moves states away. I am hosting a going away play date later this week for Jessica and her children. I am obviously sad due to the occasion but I am super excited about this play date! It is pirate and princess themed. All of our little friends will be wearing their favorite pirate or princess dress up costume. I am working on quite a bit for this party so I honestly haven't had too much time to make anything else this week. I'll show you one of my party projects now and then the rest will have to wait until later this week.

Tonight I made a wreath for the party. I saw a great idea to use cupcake liners pinned on foam balls to make hanging party decorations. I had every intention on trying that project. I went to the craft store today and learned the cost of one foam ball....$19.99 for a decent size base of a decoration - this is where my project took a turn. Instead of paying a fortune for the foam, I bought wooden floral/craft rings instead. I came home with wooden rings, mini cupcake liners, and cork board stickers. I just stumbled across the pirate and crown cork stickers in the clearance aisle of Michaels. AWESOME!

I started by wrapping the large wreath with a long strip of white cotton fabric. I did not use any adhesive because I wasn't sure this would work. I liked the outcome.

Next I used hot glue to add the cupcake liners all the way around the wreath.

I embellished the cork with pirate hats and rhinestones on the crowns.

I ended up tucking the white cotton bow to the back of the wreath because I didn't like how it looked when I was finished. I used hot glue to attach my cork stickers and then tied a long piece of tulle to hang the wreath.

I love it! I feel like you would never know it was made with cupcake liners. The best part is I am able to simply cut the white fabric off the wood ring (remember it is just wrapped around the wood) and turn it into something else later!

I'll dedicate a post later this week to the pirate and princess themed party. Come back to see the rest of our fun party as we all say our goodbyes to Jessica and her children!!
