Brownie-Goose Sapphire Top Inspiration

I have been really busy making some cute Spring/Summer clothes for Elizabeth. My mom is in town and has been helping me with her expertise. One of my favorite pieces I made this week was a Pinterest inspiration from Brownie-goose Designs.

I loved the neckline and the shoulders. So I decided to make one myself. I used a basic peasant top pattern for the top of the bodice adding ruffled cap sleeves instead of the usual big puffy sleeves. Then instead of using elastic to gather the top I created a piece of fabric the circumference of her head. I used two lines of elastic thread in the piece to create that gathered stretchy look. Then I created a skirt to add to the bottom of the bodice. I made a basic skirt with 1/4 inch elastic in the top. Then I just sewed the skirt directly to the top under the elastic. Add some buttons and I'm done.

As far as a copy cat goes I think it is almost a perfect match. It is light and flowy, the perfect top for summer.
