Heidi and Finn Hoodie

Last week was a little out of the ordinary for me...no sewing projects. I KNOW! But don't worry, just because I wasn't posting any sewing doesn't mean I haven't been busy behind my machine. I have been working on a few projects from Heidi and Finn. I love their designs and the patterns are very user friendly.

First I made the urban unisex hoodie for both my kids. It is a great hoodie design that works for both boys and girls. I previously made this sweatshirt using the same pattern. The best part about these hoodies is I got most of the fabric on sale. I bought the fabric last spring from Hancock when they were having a going out of business sale (btw they didn't go out of business so I don't know what that was about) because it was on sale and I figured "I'll use this some day." That is a problem of mine, buying fabric with no specific project in mind. What can I say...I'm addicted.

Anyways, the faux houndstooth is a knit that I found for $3/yard. The lining black knit $2/yard. The blue knit lining $2/yard. The only fabric I paid full price for was the dinosaurs from fabric.com because it was so cute I couldn't resist.

The kids LOVE them. They already wore them twice last week. The sweatshirt material is light but perfect for a brisk fall day. The only advice I would give is make the pattern one size bigger than usual because it runs a little small and wash your fabric before to prevent shrinkage.

Tune in Thursday to see what other Heidi and Finn pattern I made last week. Bet you can't guess which one.

Love the fabric you used! I totally agree about making this pattern a size larger. I hope you'll stop by and link up to Make It Wear It Thursday (opening Wednesday)!

These are so cute! I always make the things I sew for my toddler a bit too large. He still outgrows them too fast!
