Fabric Find Tuesday #10

Two colors that I love for fall are combinde in this fantastic new line by Laura Dunn. Teal and Coral are so intense and I love the transition to darker colors. It might be not the traditional green, orange, and red but the boldness really says fall to me.

I especially love the poppy flowers and the plaids because plaid really says fall as well. I know my daughter's eyes would pop with these blues bringing out her baby blues. Maybe I will have to order a few yards to satisfy my never ending need for new fabrics. Have you seen any fabrics for fall that you are dying to use?

Fabric Find Tuesday-Halloween Theme

I love making Halloween outfits for my kids. Not costumes, but Halloween themed clothing for all our family outings like the pumpkin patch, hayrides, and corn mazes. Here is one of the past outfits I made for Elizabeth:
I don't know if I will get around to it this year but if I do these cottons from Moda are adorable:

I really like Halloween themed but not too literal. These will make an adorable little outfit for all out Halloween adventures.

fabric find Tuesday #9

Flew, did you all have a great long weekend? I sure did. Got lots of sleeping in, family time, and no crafts done! Okay the last part is a bummer but I have been so busy preparing for my little bundle of joy to come that I really haven't had time to do much of my hobby. I did work on a dress for Elizabeth over the weekend but it turned out kind of whacky so I decided to fix it up before showing it to all of you.

Anyways, Sept means back to school which also means FALL is just around the corner. I don't know about you but I am so ready for fall and the temperatures to cool down. And with cooler temps you all need to go and check out FABRIC.com for the new flannels that have arrived. Flannel is so great for pajamas, baby blankets, and even sweatshirts (if you wash it before hand!!). Also new to fabric.com MODA OH DEER fabric and my favorite this week: Bella by  Lotta Jandsdotter for Windham

It also comes in teal and some lime greens but I am really into Orange right now!

Fabric Find Tuesday #8

My fabric addiction is getting out of hand lately with all the great prints online lately. Here is another line that is so adorable I could just buy the whole line. Okay okay, I'm not that bad but I am teetering on brink of horders (organized horders, that's what they all say right?).

Anyways, this new line has been floating all over the online fabric sources. Momo, Oh Deer. It is whimsical yet modern in both color and pattern.

Cherry Blossom
 Tangerine Leaf
 Bright Sky Bark
I love the dear print for fall and the trees. It would make a great lining to a new wool peacoat too. WOW, I better not get started on listing all the ideas for the line, it might just magically appear at my door via credit card (JK).

Fabric Find Tuesday #7

I love when new fabric lines come out. Fall is a really big time for fabric too...and I just love the Sarah Jane, Out to Sea line. There are some color combinations that I cannot stay away from:

yellow and grey
navy and coral
brown and teal

So when I saw the out to sea coral and navy I couldn't resist. Can you?

I already ordered a few yards from fabricworm.com and
I know exactly what I am going to make with it.

Fun Find Friday-Pinterest Week 5

FINALLY. I love technology until it fails me. Spending two days without the internet is a nightmare in my house. It really is amazing how 15 years ago the internet was so new and now I can't function a day without it. It is truly the most influential invention of the 20th century.

Anyways, now that I am back here is what I have been doing for the past two days. I finished the second quilt top for the bunk beds. This one is for Elizabeth so I changed the colors a little. I added some plain purple squares and more flowers. Same fabric line Echo as the previous quilt but a few choice colors that I hadn't incorporated. I am really happy with how it turned out.

Now all to do is the boarder, backing, and quilting. I might try to quilt it myself but I haven't decided if I want to take the time or just pay someone do it it and get it done sooner.

The truth is I wasn't totally away from the internet thanks to my smartphone so I spent some of my free time checking out Pinterest on my phone. Here are my favorites from this week:

Mini Screen Printing. Adorable for printing on fabric or adding an embellishment.
I love the piping details and the sweet color combination on this corduroy dress. I really need to incorporate more piping in my sewing.
This summer heat has been too long, probably because I am carrying around an extra 25lbs. I am ready for fall and this post has given me some inspiration for getting back to pre-baby weight.
Great step-by-step tutorial on the double braided headband. I love this look.
Cinnamon Roll Cake. This reminds me of my Grandma's breakfast bread recipe that I have tried to make over and over and cannot get right. A very good substitute for special morning breakfasts.
Neapolitan Rose Cake. I love this cake and color scheme. It would be perfect for a "I love Paris" party theme.

I hope you all watched Project Runway last night. I have been behind because of the Olympics but my DVR is set and ready to watch tonight. HAPPY PINNING.

Fabric Find Tuesday #7

Sorry I'm a little behind in my post today. In my recent travels I spent some of my time in Mesa, Arizona. I lived in Arizona for 5 years and it wasn't until the last year I lived there that I realized there are so many other fabric sources than Joann's and Hobby Lobby. One of my favorite stores in Mesa is Scrapbooks, Etc.

This is not just a scrapbook supply store. They now provide quality quilting and apparel fabrics. And their selection is fantastic. All the brand names that we love at decent prices. They also offer tons of classes that you can sign up for online. Every time I visit Arizona I have to make a stop by the store and stock up on supplies. Just walking in the store provides tons of inspiration. Bags, quilts, cute dresses and aprons. If I didn't have kids and still lived in AZ I would totally try to get a job there, I think I might be in heaven. Here is what I found during my visit:

If you do visit this store make sure you look all around because there are fabrics hidden in every nook and cranny. And there is a great selection of clearance fabrics as well as a wall of notions. Adorable ribbons and zippers you won't find in regular fabric stores.

With my new fabric selections there is bound to be a lot of projects and tutorials heading your way.

Fabric Find Tuesday #6

While I was in Arizona I stopped by a great fabric store that I had never even heard of, SAS. SAS is a closeout store in Tempe that actually sells some of their fabric by the weight (not the yard). Image what you could buy! Unfortunately most of the fabric they sell is by the yard but at incredible prices. I bought over 9 yards of fabric for under $40! Plus there are so many notions it was so hard to decide on what I wanted to buy, especially without a project in mind. I ended up with these fabric choices:

Premier Prints ZigZag village in blue/neutral SAS $4/yard, fabric.com $7.48/yard

Premier Prints Gotcha Coral/White.  SAS $4/yard, fabric.com $7.48/yard

Premier Prints Ozborne Village Blue/Natural     SAS $4/yard, fabric.com $7.48/yard

Premier Prints Hooty Owl Baby Blue  SAS $4/yard, fabric.com $7.48/yard

Amy Butler Lotus Wall Flower Cherry SAS $3/yard, fabric.com $8.98/yard

I also collected a few yards of lace trim in a variety of colors. The trims were 25 cents/yard to 49 cents /yard.

I even got a few gem buttons for the kiddos at 25 cents each. They thought they looked like pirate jewels. Everyone came away happy.

Fabric Find Tuesday #5

Do you shop Spoonflower?   I have to admit I don't because honestly I can't afford it, but I often find myself wondering over to the website from time to time just to lust after their designs. If you have a special project and are willing to spend a little extra dough, please check out this website. The designs are incredible and there are so many options.

The great thing about this website is the basic designs are avaible is a plethora of options. For instance

WOW! I just love all the textile options for the same print. Also there is an option to create your own fabric. You can create an image and send it directly to Spoonflower. They will then print your design on your requested textile.

Here are a few prints that caught my eye recently:

Birds Mod by Avelis
Pea shoots by holli zollinger
dallpled migration by kayajoy
chevrons coral by holli zollinger

Maybe if I save my crafting money for a month and decide on a really great project I can make my first Spoonflower purchase?
